What is the purpose of Golden Age Wellness? I bring massage therapy services and herbal remedies to the over-40 crowd, of which I am a part.
Why do I focus on those over 40? I found renewed interest in taking care of myself as I entered my forties and sought alternatives to medication to stay healthy. I felt renewed energy and purpose and wanted to share my knowledge with others who were also embarking on their golden years.
What is my style of massage? I focus on invoking the relaxation response to reduce stress and relieve pain through myofascial massage and energy techniques. I will employ therapeutic stretching and trigger point therapy when needed. I always leave the session with suggestions to the client on how best to deal with their pain between sessions.
What is my experience? I have experience working with clients experiencing a wide range of conditions including cancer, dementia, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, paralysis, diabetes, heart conditions, anxiety, trauma, and grief. In the past I have worked as a massage therapist at Origins of Wellness in Greendale, Wisconsin, CORE/El Centro in Milwaukee, and Sojourner Family Peace Center, the domestic violence shelter in Milwaukee. Empowering and bringing positivity to the client has always been the focus of my work.
Where do I practice? I practice out of my home in Luxemburg or visit clients at senior living communities.
What is my educational background? I received my diploma in Massage Therapy from the Milwaukee School of Massage in December, 2015. I have since added Aromatherapy and Herbalism to my practice. When I was a youngster, I worked in the field of education, obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in Education and a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Instructional Design and Technology.
